What this policy covers

This policy covers cookies and every equivalent technology that stores information on, or reads information from, your device: local storage, session storage and similar mechanisms. Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act applies to all of them, not only to cookies.

It states exactly what egovista.app stores on your device. It is short because we store very little.

What we store

One cookie is set, and only after you sign in.

• Name: sb-[project]-auth-token, together with its numbered fragments and a companion key ending in -code-verifier, when the value is too large for a single cookie.
• Set by: Supabase, our database and authentication provider, established in the European Union for this service.
• Purpose: keeping you signed in, protecting your session against cross-site request forgery, and applying the access rules that limit each account to its own data.
• Contains: an encrypted authentication token and a session identifier.
• Lifetime: up to 400 days, renewed while you remain active. This is a persistent cookie and not a session cookie: it survives closing your browser.
• When it is set: only when you sign in. A visitor who does not sign in is not given this cookie.

This cookie is strictly necessary to a service you have expressly requested, namely access to your account. Under Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act and the corresponding guidelines of the CNIL, it is exempt from prior consent. You cannot refuse it and continue to use your account, which is why we do not ask.

What we do not store

We do not use any audience measurement or analytics tool. There is no counter of visits, no measurement of your journey through the site, and no tool of that kind loaded on any page.

We do not use any advertising cookie and we display no advertising.

We do not use any social media button, any sharing widget, any map, any remote font or any chat widget.

We embed one video, and it loads nothing until you ask for it. On our contributor page a video is available. Until you click to play it, nothing is requested from YouTube and nothing is stored on your device. If you click, YouTube loads the video and may store information on your device at that point, under its own terms. If you would rather it did not, do not click.

We store nothing in your browser’s local storage.

We do not build a profile of you, we do not follow you across other websites, and we do not share anything with an advertising network.

Why there is no cookie banner

A banner exists to collect consent for trackers that require it. We have none. The only cookie we set is exempt from consent, and it is set only for people who choose to sign in.

Showing a banner to ask for consent we do not need would be misleading, so we do not show one. If we ever deploy a tracker requiring consent, we will introduce a consent mechanism and update this policy before doing so, not after.

How to control what is stored

Every browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and local storage, in its privacy or security settings. Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge each document the procedure.

Deleting the authentication cookie signs you out. Blocking cookies for egovista.app prevents you from signing in at all, since the cookie is what keeps a session open. Nothing else on the site depends on it, so browsing the public pages with cookies blocked works normally.

Changes to this policy

This policy is versioned and dated. Where a change adds a tracker or extends what is stored, we update this page before the change takes effect, not after. Earlier versions remain available on request.
